Revelation is the primary source of Islamic teachings and serves as the foundation for all aspects of Muslim life, with the Qur’an regarded as the final revelation and believed to be the authentic Word of God. This study aims to examine the essence of revelation in the Islamic perspective and analyze the authenticity of the Qur’an as a sacred text preserved from alteration. The research employs a qualitative approach using a library research method through the review of various classical and contemporary scholarly sources discussing revelation, Qur’anic studies, and the authenticity of the Qur’an. The collected data were analyzed using content analysis to identify, compare, and synthesize relevant viewpoints. The findings indicate that revelation is understood as divine communication conveyed by Allah SWT to His prophets and messengers, particularly to Prophet Muhammad SAW through the Angel Gabriel. The authenticity of the Qur’an has been preserved through the process of revelation, memorization by the Prophet’s companions, codification during the caliphates of Abu Bakr and Uthman ibn Affan, continuous chains of transmission (sanad), as well as the support of manuscript studies and modern technological advancements. The study concludes that the authenticity of the Qur’an is supported not only by historical and textual evidence but also by the theological belief in Allah’s divine preservation of His scripture. Consequently, the Qur’an remains an authentic, reliable, and enduring guide for humanity across all times and generations.
